ProActive Personal Training & Fitness in Auburn, CA was founded by Suzanne Gove-O’Rourke and Michael O’Rourke. The husband-and-wife team strive to take you to the next level from the moment you enter our studio.  They have assembled a team of fitness professionals dedicated to providing you with not only the most effective and efficient training programs carefully designed to improve your quality of life but also a client-centered focus where customer service is a top priority.

Suzanne Gove-O’Rourke, BPE

Owner and Personal Trainer

Originally from Canada, Suzanne has been active in the health and fitness industry for more than 25 years. She obtained her BPE from the University of Alberta, where she concentrated in athletic injuries and sports performance.

Having been a competitive figure skater, Suzanne knows the value of qualified fitness instruction. She focuses on enhancing her client’s athletic performance through guidance and coaching. As a certified trainer of fitness leaders, Suzanne has been inspiring other fitness professionals to elevate the industry as a whole for many years.

Suzanne believes that when you make a commitment and focus on achieving a goal, anything is possible. According to her, fitness can make you feel alive and take you beyond your wildest dreams

Michael O’Rourke

Owner, Personal Trainer, and USAC-Certified Cycling Coach

Michael started out as a successful endurance runner, followed by an avid body builder, then most recently a National Champion road bike racer. This variety of athletic endeavor was largely driven simply by the challenge of setting, then achieving a goal. Lending to those successes was his keen interest in the science of physiology.

In the continual pursuit of expanding his knowledge, Michael spent 7 years aiding in physical therapy, rehabilitating knees, hips, backs, and shoulders as well as working with seniors. This lifetime of experience and education has enabled him to empower others to achieve their physical goals, however great or small. Whether that goal is winning a national title, knocking a tough hike off your bucket list, or just better balance and core stability for your daily life, Michael can help you achieve your goals. .

Tina Gill

Personal Trainer

As a lifelong lover of exercise and fitness, I have learned firsthand that movement is the key to optimal health. After spending 18 years with the court system, I left my desk job because it was literally "killing me”. My interest in fitness started as a child. My childhood heroes were Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jack LaLanne and Jane Fonda. In the high school weight room, I became interested in personal training, but my life took a different course at that time. 28 years later, I was finally able to explore my passion and I started working my dream career as a PT in 2016. This goes to show it’s never too late to start a new path!

I have always been curious and passionate about health and wellness. Growing up, I frequently enjoyed outdoor activities and recreational sports with track being an absolute favorite. With a background in nursing and coming from a family with predisposed health issues, I have witnessed many hardships and battles. This was enlightening and ignited a fire within to know more about health and fitness. Digging deeper, I later discovered competitive bodybuilding and the significance of nutrition as it relates to overall health and vitality.

In 2016 I became a member of the National Physique Committee and began competing in bodybuilding shows across the country. Through hard work and dedication, I placed high at a some very prestigious competitions. I quickly became immersed in the journey and fell in love with the sport. I knew needed more. With time I gained more experience and knowledge within health and fitness, and my desire to educate, uplift and motivate others grew.
I became a certified personal trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine. My intent is to help encourage and inspire you to achieve goals and hit milestones throughout your fitness journey.

Cori believes that healthy fitness habits can be learned at any age. She enjoys helping clients set and achieve their goals while teaching them how to lead healthier lives. Since 1994 Rebecca has watched people in her group fitness sessions grow stronger, leaner and reach their fitness goals. It is her belief that the energy created in Group Fitness is exhilarating and motivates participants to achieve goals they might never reach on their own. She strives to create an atmosphere in each group fitness session that is encouraging, positive and nothing but FUN!

Some of her favorite group formats include; Strength/Sculpt, Kickboxing, Bosu and Core. She is a lifelong learner and keeps her exercise education up-to-date which in turn allows her to provide classes that are effective, safe and current.

Anne has worked extensively in a number of fields including musculoskeletal rehabilitation, public health and special populations. She enjoys working with complex clients who have multiple concerns. Problem solving is a major part of training techniques and is what keeps her working on innovative solutions in exercise prescription. Anne strives to live a life of significance by helping others become the best version of themselves.
